Forehead Lift (Browlift)
Procedure: Removal of excess tissue, altering muscles, and tightening the forehead skin to minimize forehead creases, drooping eyebrows, hooding over eyes, furrowed forehead and frown lines. Most often performed on people over 40.
Length: 1 to 2 hours.
Anesthesia/Hospitalization:General anesthesia with no hospitalization.
Side Effects:Temporary swelling, numbness, headaches, bruising. Possible itching and hair loss.
Risks: The facial nerve may be injured resulting in loss of motion, muscle weakness, or asymmetrical appearance. Infection and broad scars can develop.
Recovery: You may return to work in 7 to 10 days, but sometimes patients may return sooner after an endoscopic procedure. More strenuous activity should be avoided for several weeks. Bruising should resolve in 2 to 3 weeks. Sun exposure should be limited for several months, but sunscreen and sun avoidance is always recommended.
Duration of Results: Usually 5 to 10 years.
